Maria Dallas

Maria Dallas (born Marina Devcich) had a hit in 1967 with a cover of Jay Epae's "Tumblin' Down. The song made it to #11 on the pop charts and won her the Loxene Golden Disc Award for 1967.

Dallas first entered the limelight by winning a talent contest in Morrinsville in 1964 and before long had attracted the attention of Viking Records boss Ron Dalton. In 1967 she moved to Australia and then on to Nashville. Returning to New Zealand in 1970 she had a #1 hit with "Pinocchio".
